Why are pple so small minded.?

i recently been staying with my friend.a man hes 60 and im 29.i moved into his to help him get better as he had his leg apputated and then he fell over at home and cracked the bottom of his spine .since then he has lost part of his memory.iv been trying to help him get his independance back.i ust to rent aroom of him and to be honest hes the closest thing iv got to any faimly.hes sort of like a father figure.yet pple judge me and think that i must be havin with him or im after all his money.or something seedy.i wouldnt mind if he was loaded but he isnt .if anything the extra money i have been paying is helping him.this is really distressing me and making me feel like i dont wanna stay there anymore.he really hasnt got anyone else to help.he has carers comeing in but a few times they havent give him his medication properly and other stuff.so i think if i wasnt here then he wouldnt be getting looked after properly.im 29 i should be out lookin for a boyfriend really but i dont mmind doin this to help him get back to normal..so why am i been made to feel bad by other pple and there small minds .its not fare. im startin to think that been nice doesnt get you anywere xx
