Should I replace my timing belt for a Dodge 2005 Stratus or the engine?

The easiest thing for you to do is call your local parts store and get a price on a timing belt, at the same time ask him if your engine is considered an interference engine meaning when the timing belt breaks do the pistons slam into the valves or a non interference engine. If you have an interference engine the fact it broke going down the freeway is going to leave slim to not a chance in hell of everything not being all bent up. The only way you can survive an interference engine timing belt breaking and not doing damage is if it breaks on the start up and nothing really turns. Also there is a thing called book time that every mechanic by law has to follow so in theory you should be able to call different shops and get the same quote in hours of labor for this the only difference should be labor rates.
